Theater arts at ���Ĵ�ý is a passion project for most students. They don’t plan to make it a career; they do it to hang out with other theater people, make art, and simply have fun! ���Ĵ�ý has a long history of stage productions going back to the program’s founder, Don Garlock (BA 61, S 63). Dr. Steve Grill (BA 70) took the helm of the program in the early ‘70s when the Little Theatre had no carpeting, orange plastic seats and only about 20 lights.

Over the past 24 years, we have watched theater greatly impact students at ���Ĵ�ý. In 2011, we formed the “Back in Five” improv comedy team, which is now a sensation among students, packing out the Little Theater for its midnight performances. Our portfolio of productions has also grown, hosting plays, musicals, one-acts and a number of student-directed productions each year.

Plays/Musicals – Each year, ���Ĵ�ý produces a play in the fall and a musical theatre production in the spring. Auditions are open to all if one of these calls your name as an actor, set designer, or stagehand.
Cabaret – These theme-based productions showcase a variety of students, allowing you to audition with a performance of your choosing.
Back in Five – If you like the sound of performing on a team, consider Back in Five, ���Ĵ�ý’s comedy-improv team.
Remnant –�� As one of the theatre colleges that is also a Christian College, we are able to couple your acting with ministry.�� Check out Remnant, a student-led drama ministry team that performs at schools, churches, and youth events.
Theatre Minor��– If you’re interested in taking classes such as Intro to Theatre or Stagecraft, this minor is an excellent option for you!
