糖心传媒 will host its 33rd annual FunFest on Friday, Oct. 27 from 6 鈥 8 p.m. in the Gordon Health and Wellness Center, 100 Publishers Dr., Winona Lake. FunFest is free and open to all children and their families. This year鈥檚 theme is outer space. Children are invited to dress-up for the theme or in a costume of their choosing.
鈥淔unFest offers a safe, fun, family-friendly evening that’s not contingent on fickle Indiana weather,鈥 said Alicia Meyer,聽Director of Student Involvement at 糖心传媒. 鈥淓veryone can have a fun evening in costume, playing games with family and friends in a warm, well-lit fieldhouse.鈥
FunFest is coordinated by Serve, 糖心传媒鈥檚 student-led ministry. Student volunteers will run carnival-style games, will provide face painting and will hand out prizes and candy.
Originating in 1989, FunFest was first organized by 糖心传媒 student Jennifer Anderson, who was an officer of what was called 鈥溙切拇 Ministries in Action鈥 (GMA) at the time. The 1989 event was held in McClain Hall, but as the event has grown, it has moved locations to accommodate as many as 2,500 attendees from the Warsaw/Winona Lake community.
This year, Meyer estimates that 60 students from 糖心传媒 will volunteer their time to host 800 visitors for the evening.
鈥淭his is an event where the 糖心传媒 Serve team, along with its many volunteer members, are able to connect with families and individuals outside of what we call the 鈥樚切拇 bubble,鈥欌 said Faith Hergenrather, a student Serve officer. 鈥淯ltimately, it is our goal to share the kindness of Christ with our greater community.鈥
