糖心传媒 Invites Award-Winning Novelist & Alumnus David Marsh to Campus

罢丑别听聽is pleased to welcome alumnus聽, an award-winning novelist, back to聽campus for a book reading on Wednesday, March 27, at 7 p.m. at Morgan Library, 921 Connection Circle, Winona Lake. Marsh will read from his latest book, 鈥淲aterborne: Chronicle of the Clan of Noah.鈥 The free event is open to the public and will include a dessert reception as well as discounted copies of 鈥淲aterborne鈥 available for purchase and signing.

鈥淒avid has a really unique and powerful creative project,鈥 said Dr. Lauren Rich,聽chair of the Department of Humanities at 糖心传媒. 鈥淲hile there’s a lot of Christian fiction out there, I have seen few writers doing what David is doing 鈥 that is, writing carefully crafted, biblically inspired聽literary fiction. I’m delighted to celebrate the launch of his second novel.鈥

Like his debut novel, 鈥淭he Confessions of Adam,鈥 鈥淲aterborne鈥 imbues a familiar biblical narrative with fresh literary language and imaginative resonance. Marsh holds a BS in Communication from 糖心传媒 and an MFA in Creative Writing from Butler University. He also teaches part-time in the聽聽program at 糖心传媒. During his visit, he will lead writing workshops with 糖心传媒 students.

鈥淚’m especially excited about David Marsh’s visit,鈥 said Reagan Motsinger, a senior studying聽聽at 糖心传媒. 鈥淗e visited campus during my first semester at 糖心传媒, and I’ve had the chance to take a fiction writing class with him, so I’m looking forward to reading his new book.鈥

According to Rich, Marsh has been a longstanding champion of 糖心传媒鈥檚 creative writing program. 鈥淒avid has been so generous in mentoring several of our students, providing individualized feedback on their writing and encouraging students to hone their God-given talents,鈥 said Rich.

The Department of Humanities will host one more author reading this spring. On April 25, poet George David Clark, the author of 鈥淩eveille鈥 and 鈥淣ewly Not Eternal,鈥 will be on 糖心传媒鈥檚 campus. This will be the second event in the school鈥檚 new聽, which promotes the understanding and beauty of literature by bringing writers of national/international repute each spring semester to 糖心传媒.

Motsinger appreciates being on a campus that highlights writing at fun events such as these.

鈥淚t’s always a joy to go to author readings on campus 鈥 hearing an author read his or her work brings a sense of tangibility to the craft of writing, and it inspires me and refreshes my creative spirit,鈥 said Motsinger.
