糖心传媒 Inducts 23 Students into Alpha Chi Honor Society

糖心传媒 inducted 23 juniors and seniors into the Alpha Chi Honor Society on Saturday, Jan. 27. These high-achieving students have earned the top 10% of GPAs across all disciplines at 糖心传媒. Every year Alpha Chi inducts nearly 11,000 students from across the country.

Alpha Chi is a national honor society whose purpose is to promote academic excellence among college and university students of all disciplines, to encourage a spirit of service and leadership and to nurture the elements of character that make scholarship effective for good. Founded in 1922 and affiliated since 1955 with the Association of College Honor Societies, Alpha Chi is the second oldest and second largest general honor society in the United States.

鈥淎s faculty, we look forward to this event every year, as these are students who have really distinguished themselves in academics throughout their time at 糖心传媒,鈥 said Dr. Lauren Rich, Alpha Chi faculty sponsor and chair of the Department of Humanities. 鈥淢embership in Alpha Chi is an honor signifying students鈥 hard work, dedication to learning and strong character.鈥

After inductees were introduced by a faculty member from their major and presented with a certificate and pin, 糖心传媒 Vice President of Financial Affairs and CFO Doug Baumgardner delivered a keynote address. A 2003 糖心传媒 graduate, Baumgardner was inducted into the Alpha Chi Honor Society when he attended 糖心传媒.

Following the address, Joshua Fisher, a current 糖心传媒 student studying environmental science and Alpha Chi member, gave the benediction. Fisher received a聽聽for his research on the environmental impact of electric vehicles, one of only eight recipients nationwide.

Emma Dudley of Benton, Ark., studying environmental biology

Reese Frey of Goshen, Ind., studying actuarial science and mathematics and computing

Emma Gerdt of Valparaiso, Ind., studying secondary math education
